French Word of the Day
a crevette is a prawn or crevette grise is a shrimp

Having ventured to France many many times with a very open mind when it comes to food I was not quite prepared for the difficulties when we invited two vegetarian friends along for the summer holidays.
One of my favourite things about being in France is strolling to the local boulangerie and getting fresh bread every day, there’s no comparison to fresh baguette cooked in a wood fired oven. Supermarket offerings are usually pretty good (Unless you buy the huge bags of buy 10 get 2 free baguettes! Who can eat that much bread anyway?) But it has not always been that way.

Today is the 600th anniversary of the birth of one of Frances most famous warriors, and perhaps one of the most famous in the world, Joan of Arc. Known in France as Jeanne d’Arc, and nicknamed ‘The Maid of Orleans’, there is perhaps no other national heroine like her in French history.
Fact One: Well we all love the south of France with that Mediterranean charm, but did you know that Nice has the highest crime rate in France. When you think about it this makes sense, with wealth comes nice things and it’s nice things that attract "sticky fingers".
The latest motoring news to come out of France, as announced by President Nicolas Sarkozy, is that from spring 2012 every vehicle in France may have to be equipped with a Breathalyser test kit.
